The Sports Boulevard Foundation (SBF) has appointed Frankie Dettori, one of the world’s most successful jockeys, as an official ambassador for the project. Dettori will help to inspire a new generation of equestrians as the project begins to deliver one of the world’s largest urban regeneration and grassroots sports project in Saudi Arabia’s capital city, Riyadh.

As ambassador for the Sports Boulevard, Dettori will promote the ethos of the whole project, which will become a world-class destination for grassroots sports, stretching across Riyadh and enhancing the entire city. Working alongside the team, he will help the project to deliver its commitments to improving the quality of life for residents and helping to attract more visitors to Riyadh.

Frankie Dettori has been at the forefront of horseracing for over three decades – winning more than 500 Group races. He has won big races in at least 24 countries, including four in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and he continues to race in the highest echelons of the sport, including at The Saudi Cup this weekend.

Jayne McGivern, CEO, Sports Boulevard Foundation, commented on the international partnership: “The Sports Boulevard Foundation is delighted to be working with Frankie Dettori. He has a long association with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and will use his experience and expert advice to support our ambition to create a world class equestrian destination. The SBF is creating a unique sporting environment that will transform the opportunities for both the residents and visitors of Riyadh.”

The Sports Boulevard Foundation’s partnership with Frankie Dettori is just one of the ways it is encouraging the people of Riyadh to take part in sports and wellbeing activities of all types. Through the development of a 135+km park stretching across Riyadh, the Boulevard will build on the Kingdom’s proud equestrian history, providing expansive spaces for riding trails for budding equestrians of all ages and abilities, as well as an extensive offering of other sports facilities.

Frankie Dettori said: “I am honored to be working with the Sports Boulevard Foundation and to be associated with this amazing urban regeneration project. To be able to encourage more people to enjoy equestrian sport is something very close to my heart – it is special to be able to experience the health and wellbeing benefits that this sport can bring. Saudi Arabia’s capital city has been going through a metamorphosis and the Sports Boulevard will offer the absolute best facilities, architecture, and infrastructure to promote an active way of life.”
